Our Community
Sedgefield Lakes was developed in 1954 by cousins Hobart & Charles Routh. The community is comprised of three lakes the largest of which has a beach & swimming area, as well as a picnic shelter, playground, tennis courts and parking lot.
The large lake also shares its space with fishermen and small motor craft that pull both skiers and tubers. The opposite side of the main dam features a large recreational field that is ideal for a variety of sports and exercise activities.
Over 150 custom built homes which include ranch, split level, cape cod, contemporary and others line the lakes and the surrounding streets.
Sedgefield Lakes is conveniently located off Hilltop Rd between Stanley Road and Bridford Parkway. We are close to several major shopping centers, but far enough away that you would never know it.
SELCO is a voluntary neighborhood association which was created at the same time as the neighborhood itself. Neighborhood associations were a relatively new concept in the mid 50's and SELCO was one of the first of its kind in Guilford County. While membership in SELCO is voluntary, access to the lakes including boating, fishing, swimming, tennis and use of the playground, picnic shelter and ball field are for SELCO members only.
SELCO not only maintains and manages the use of the lakes and ammenities but also works on behalf of the residents to negotiate with city and state government offices as construction around the neighborhood continues to grow and expand.
SELCO sponsors several events during the year including fishing competitions, picnics and other social gatherings.
